Today, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, announced as part of the Enhanced Nature Legacy up to $796 million in funding to support provinces and territories and other partners’ actions to recover species at risk and protect and conserve lands and freshwater.

As part of Budget 2021, the Government of Canada is making historic investments in Indigenous infrastructure to address critical infrastructure gaps and improve economic, social and health outcomes in their communities, including meaningful action on the new approach that was launched with Indigenous partners to end the national tragedy of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.
The Government of Canada is investing more than $78.6 million in eleven projects under the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Plan. The Government of Manitoba is investing over $67.8 million, and contributions by recipients toward their respective projects are over $43.2 million. Funding recipients are responsible for any additional project costs.
Joint federal, provincial and municipal funding through the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan will support 88 projects, including recreation, green, and rural infrastructure improvements.
