As the pandemic evolves, the Government of Canada continues to work with partners, including provincial and territorial governments, Indigenous communities and the air industry, to address the unique needs of these communities.

Helping airports mitigate the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is part of the Government of Canada’s strategy to ensure that Canada’s air transportation system provides Canadians with choice, connectivity and affordable air travel. Canada’s world-leading network of airports has been put under substantial financial strain as a result of the dramatic decline in passenger travel. Investments in airport infrastructure are crucial to maintain safety, security, and connectivity for travellers, airport workers and surrounding communities.
Canada’s tourism sector is a key economic driver and the Government of Canada continues to ensure that tourism businesses, organizations and municipalities dependent on the sector, are resourced and ready for a strong, swift recovery. That is why the federal government, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), is working with the Town of Lumsden to increase the visitor experience for one of the region’s beaches and build more competitive and resilient communities.
Canada will have enough doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to fully inoculate all those 12 and over, a milestone the government had originally planned to reach this September.
