At the invitation of Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sophie Wilmès and U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, the Foreign Ministers of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS Small Group met virtually today to reaffirm our shared determination to continue the fight against Daesh/ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and to create conditions for an enduring defeat of the terrorist group, which remains the Coalition’s sole purpose, through a comprehensive, multifaceted effort.

The Canadian Coast Guard’s seasonal search and rescue stations in Cap-aux-Meules, Havre-Saint-Pierre, Kegaska, Québec City, Rivière-au-Renard and Tadoussac will resume operations on April 1st, 2021
The Canadian military will remain involved in the hunt for the remnants of the ISIS terror group for another year. The Liberal government has announced it will extend the capacity-building and assistance mission known as Operation Impact. The move to stay in the region comes three and a half years after the battlefield defeat of ISIS.
