After a period of relative quiet, Canada’s COVID-19 case count is once again on the rise as variants of concern take hold with the country expected to post a cumulative case count of 1 million next week, according to new data released by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The Government of Canada continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 virus variants of concern that have been identified in Canada and is working to better understand these variants and their impact on the health of Canadians and our public health measures.
Minister Ng welcomed the close collaboration with the EU on the continued supply of contracted deliveries of COVID-19 vaccines to Canada, and underscored the importance that this continue in light of the EU’s recent announcement regarding amendments to their mechanism on vaccine exports.
