The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) has accepted an initial project description for the proposed Value Chain Solutions – Heartland Complex Expansion Project, located in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, about 18 kilometres northeast of Fort Saskatchewan.
The Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act delivers on the Government of Canada’s commitment to legislate Canada’s net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 target. The Act will establish a legally-binding process to set five-year national emissions reduction targets for 2030, 2035, 2040 and 2045 as well as develop credible, science-based emissions reduction plans to achieve each target. The Act was introduced by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Jonathan Wilkinson, in the House of Commons on November 19, 2020.
